Radiographic correlation of Gonial Angle with Age and Gender among Pediatric Patient visiting a Tertiary Hospital: A Retrospective Study

Introduction: The mandible is one of the largest and most rigid bone in facial skeleton. mandibular parameters like gonial angle, bigonial width ramus heights can be used to determine a correlation with an individual’s age gender. This important legal ramifications its assessment has great role forensic orthodontic purposes. Objective: To assess radiographic angle Methods: A total 325 Orthopantomographs (OPG) were evaluated which included 168 male 157 female dentate subjects. It was further categorized into three groups: Group I (3-9 years), II (10-15 years) III (16-17 years). measured bilaterally data statistically analyzed. Results: mean subjects 12.24+3.79 yrs. values (in degrees) right (126.71+5.89) left angles (129.92+5.86) higher on females compared males. However, it not significant. group 8-12yrs (126.70+ 6.52 128.56+ 5.83) lowest 13-17yrs (125.40+ 6.84 126.93+7.35) also showed insignificant all groups. Conclusions: morphometric analysis through measurements may useful estimating gender when comparing known population. Gonial been as adjunct parameter implications identifications well analysis.
